Education for all South Sudan
The project aims to improve the capacity of girls and boys with disabilities, community, state, and national level actors to increase access to quality secondary education and graduation levels. At the national level, cash transfers are provided to girls and boys with disabilities and catch-up classes to help them successfully (re)integrate and complete grades 7 to 12. Also, the project seeks to strengthen the education system at national and subnational level for better service provision, national budget allocation and accountability. It also informs, educates, and motivates community members (girls, boys, women and men, parents, teachers and community leaders) to promote quality education completion, with an emphasis for children with disabilities who face increased discrimination. Scalable geographic pilots are designed to improve life skills education for children with disabilities with tailored support to schools and teachers to address discrimination and meet their specific needs.

Global Mine Action Programme 3
The UK has had an historic role in talking the legacy of landmine and Explosive Remnants of War. We were one of the founding signatories to the Land Mine Ban Treaty of 1997, In the 24 years since then, the UK has supported some of the poorest countries around the world to clear landmines and ERW after conflict, building up considerable knowledge and experience in the mine action sector. UK funding for mine action saves lives, releases land for productive use and helps pace the way for further development programming. Through land mine and ERW clearance, mine risk education activities and capacity development of national and provincial authorities this programme will increase stability and security for people in countries affected by landmines and ERW.

Access to water and better hygiene in Terekeka
An estimated 5,712,000 South Sudanese women, men and children will not have access to adequate water; sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in 2019. In addition, some 300,000 refugees lack sufficient WASH conditions. The number of people requiring emergency WASH services in 2019 increased by 7 per cent from the previous year, explained by the expansion of WASH data with a higher reliability and more detailed analysis1.
WASH needs are the highest in Canal, Fangak and Pibor in Jonglei, Awerial in Lakes, Panyijar in Unity, and Ikwotos in Eastern Equatoria. While Awerial and Fangak remained two counties with the highest WASH needs, they represent a shift from last year that saw Fashoda of Upper Nile, Ayod of Jonglei, Rubkona of Unity and Juba of Central Equatoria.
The lack of sufficient WASH infrastructure and availability has an effect on the overall health of the population. Outbreaks of diarrhea, cholera and other waterborne diseases are of high concern.
Moreover, women and girls in areas with limited WASH infrastructure face increased risk of harassment, assault and sexual violence when collecting water from remote water sources and using inappropriate communal latrines, and access to

The World Food Programme (WFP) School Health and Nutrition project provides school girls and boys with improved and equal nutrition status through increased access to gender-responsive school-based nutrition packages, nutrition and health education interventions, and gender-inclusive engagement of local smallholder farmers. The three-year (FY2023-2025) $11.2 million project provides two daily nutritious meals to over 32,000 schoolchildren in vulnerable food insecure regions of Somalia and South Sudan. WFP also builds community resilience by linking female smallholder farmers to local agricultural support programmes to increase the use of women-produced local crops. The project also supports Canada’s international assistance and the strategic priorities for Somalia and South Sudan through women’s economic empowerment and human capital development through innovative gender-responsive, nutrition-sensitive, shock-responsive interventions and behaviour-change communication.

Vitamin A Supplementation in a New Age (VINA)
Periodic, high-dose vitamin A supplementation of children 6-59 months is a proven, low-cost intervention that has been shown to reduce all-cause mortality by 12 to 24 percent and is an essential programme supporting efforts to reduce child mortality. Global Affairs Canada-funded three-year Vitamin A Supplementation in a New Age (VINA) project (FY2023-2026) aims to reduce mortality in girls and boys under five years at high risk of vitamin A deficiency in fifteen countries across sub-Saharan Africa. Through this project, UNICEF will support more equitable, gender-responsive and efficient delivery of vitamin A supplementation (VAS) by working in partnership with country ministries of health. The VINA project will support increased government ownership and financial sustainability of vitamin A supplementation programs, strengthen delivery systems, and enhance women's and girls' empowerment. The project also addresses systematic gender barriers at a household level that impede access to health services. This project aims to support the implementation of the Vancouver Principles (VPs) to prevent the recruitment and use of child soldiers in 7 sub-Saharan African countries over a 5-year period. This project is part of Canada’s Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership (RWVL) Program. Expanding Agricultural Climate Resilience
This project aims to enhance the resilience of communities to respond to worsening climate conditions that disrupt agricultural production and food systems in South Sudan. It seeks to work with women and men smallholder farmers to diversify their agricultural sources of income through climate-resilient techniques and assets. The project also aims to empower women to manage community-based tree nurseries and seed banks and access new opportunities in fishing, fruit farming, beekeeping and small livestock. Project activities include: (1) building the capacity of women and men smallholder farmers and fisherfolks on new, climate-resilient skills. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) provides international protection and assistance to the world’s refugees, stateless persons, asylum seekers, and in some instances, internally displaced persons. The Market Access Upgrade Programme (MARKUP II) aims to promote economic growth in the East African Community (EAC) through private sector development and export promotion. It seeks to enhance sustainable and inclusive intra-African trade, pan-African trade, and trade with the European Union (EU). MARKUP II will address trade barriers, value addition, compliance, trade facilitation, investment, technology transfer, and institutional support. As a result of the conflict in neighbouring Sudan, South Sudan has experienced a steady influx of refugees and returnees which has put pressure on resources and service delivery in the area. Concern Worldwide implemented an emergency cash assistance project in Rotriak, Budang Payam, Rubkona County, in Unity State, South Sudan, by reaching out to households directly impacted by the Sudan crisis and with specific vulnerabilities. The targeted households included recent returnees/refugees) impacted by the Sudan crisis and households from host communities settled in Rotriak by the State Government. . OVERALL COUNTRY PROG: Vulnerable households impacted by the Sudan crisis are able to meet their basic needs through flexible cash-based response.. SPECIFIC OUTCOME: Those who were targeted by the project are heavily reliant on humanitarian aid or the support of host households for food and income. The cash intervention was intended to fulfill their immediate needs and post distribution monitoring revealed that 97.75% of communities spent cash on food purchases. PERFORMANCE-BASED PARTNERSHIP SCHEME FOCUSING ON QUALITY PROGRAMMING, UNDERSTANDING CHANGE AND RESULTS FOR POOR HOUSEHOLDS AND COMMUNITIES
The Integrated Health and Nutrition programme will work in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, South Sudan. It aims to contribute to Concern South Sudan’s Health, Nutrition and WASH thematic programme, and the goal of the grant is to improve child and maternal health and nutritional status by increasing access to essential integrated health, nutrition services and promoting sustainable behaviour change. The programme will support over 634,484 people living in extreme and poor households with a particular focus on pregnant and lactating mothers, and children under five, female-headed households, pregnant and lactating mothers, households with disabled members. This will be done through increased availability and access to basic quality health/nutrition services and integration opportunities analysed jointly with the Ministry of Health/County Health Department and promoted, improved capacity of the health facility staff to provide comprehensive quality health and nutrition services, increased access to nutritive sensitive agriculture (vegetable production) and participation in VSLAs by vulnerable groups and increased engagement of women and men to promote positive gender roles at community and

The Chronic Crisis Stream Programme implemented by Christian Aid with local partners SAADO and CfH in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, South Sudan, aims to meet the complex interconnected needs of crisis- and conflict-affected communities, reduce the risk of violent conflict, foster resilience and reduce vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, through integrated, people-centred approaches which put communities and civil society organisations in the driving seat. The objectives of the grant are to support communties to: (1) respond to humanitarian need, (2a) tackle violence and build peace; (2b) tackle gender-based violence; (3) strengthen resilience; and (4) adapt to climate change.
